How does the server reach my home?

Local device access requires suitable networking, such as VPN, and compatible integrations. Device discovery over VPN is not always automatic.

Do I need local hardware?

Zigbee, Z-Wave and Bluetooth need a local gateway or controller, not included in the VPS plan. Home Assistant Container has no apps store; MQTT and Node-RED can run separately.

Will automations work offline?

Automations running on a VPS depend on connectivity between your home and the server. For offline functions, we recommend local Home Assistant. Integration design and configuration are billed separately.
